The poet is a craftsman, he must always have his tools at the ready

The poet must aspire to beauty, must praise it as a god, God or His most important attribute. The poet must try to emulate beauty in all of her works

The poet must embrace a life poetic

The poet must never embrace death for life fosters greater poetry than death
