Instagrammatic: A Theory

Instagram is the false bettering of photos. I take the picture from my camera. I take the pictures from other places. I instagram them almost instantly. Filter them to mimic technology I would never use. I think of the photographer who had these tools by her side. The tools have changed, the hierarchy has rearranged. Instagram is a pastiche, a novelty but not an enemy. These pictures mimic the old technology and replace them too. The perverse bettering of technology. The death of the gadget, the tool, the item. All falls apart and is replaced by binary. Destroy. Erase. Improve.
